History
The Institute was established in 2004 as named the Institute of Economics and Management, and renamed the Institute of Business and Management in August, 2008.

The Institute has been combined with Dept. of Finance as a master program. The department will be renamed "Department of Finance (財務金融學系)" in 2024. 2024年起經營管理研究所與金融管理學系整併更名為「財務金融學系」。

Development Characteristics
The main objective of the Institute is to nurture highly skilled professionals required by domestic and international enterprise. At the same time we actively develop multidisciplinary research, integrate students with multi-dimensional training in economics, finance and management, and cultivate them with strong business management skills which will actually cater to the requirements of rapidly changing economic environments faced by the domestic and multinational companies.

Goals
The program putting great emphasis on both practical training and research provides training in business for students interested in creative thinking and understanding the working nature of business in a global environment. The aims and objectives of the program are to cultivate students with professional managerial knowledge as well as applicable techniques, such as numerous quantitative analytical skills to solve real-life problems.

Job Opportunities:
 
Student who graduate from our institute can participate in related national public examinations, or enter into national and foreign banks, insurance companies, securities investment companies, trading companies, manufacturing companies or domestic sector of production, technology, marketing, finance, accounting, planning, human resource, investment and similar management work.

Remarks:
 
Each student, before graduation, is required to complete 45 credits, including compulsory and elective courses. The graduation credits include 6 credits for the thesis and another 4 credits for seminars (1 credit for each semester with 4 semesters). Upon completion of a successful defense of the student's thesis, the student will be awarded the Master degree of administration (MBA).
 
Students must present their research work in conferences or publish in journals with anonymous referees before they submit their theses.
 
All students must complete at least 6-credit-hour undergraduate-level Accounting courses, or receive an accounting ability certificate issued by the Government to meet the accounting ability requirement before completing the master's program. A student who does not meet one of the above requirements must take at least 6-credit-hour undergraduate-level Accounting courses. However, these credits cannot be counted for graduation.
